Day 12 and 13

Decided its now time to get the professionals in to weld up my structural areas correctly, so I called on Auto Transformations (who are not far from me...).

They came to my garage and carried out the agreed welding (and more!!) to an excellent standard, this has now moved my project on many weeks in one weekend!!
BIG thanks goes out to the Auto Transformations lads!!

Here you can see them welding up my B pillar

more b pillar welding

b piller metal plates in position now

door handle repositioned and stitch welded on

Sill cutout plated up nicely!!

Rear frame welded into place, the rear plates for the boot floor and back of car have not been done as I am having an original Ferrari exhaust installed and Auto T have come up with a great way of supporting the silencer at the rear, but they need the rear quarters on first to get it right, so that will be a job when auto T return to do more welding for me.
I am also hammerite blacking all the exposed metal to stop any rust when it gets covered with the panels.

B pillar/ door handle all Hammerited

Front part of sill cut off and shortened and rewelded in place, this area will get undersealed, as this will be painted the car colour but hammerite would react with the paint.

Windscreen lowering plate in place and nearly welded up

Windscreen hockey stick in place

another view of the sill end plate
My original ferrari exhaust!!

I am now in a position to start dry fitting panels to the car!! watch this space!!

Day 11

Did a little more work on the doors, I realised that I had welded the door handle on in slightly the wrong place, so I cut it off and welded it back on correctly with the extreme mod plate bolted on.

door end cap fitted, the mos plate now doesnt catch on the cap anymore!

Day 10

so, after xmas and new year, managed to get some time on the car last weekend...
Marking the door handle move cutout

cut out and grinded

handle holder spot welded in place

Started work on lowering the wipers....I am gunna have to move the wiring loom and the brake pipes..

Remove this piece of plastic that secures the wiring loom, after some prising, I found 2 bolts holding in on..

This is looking from under the wing at the back of the loom plastic, the 2 round shapes are the bolts that are holding it on, the round hole has a tie-wrap to snip

Out at last!!

here you can see one of the bolt threads....

wiper assembly removed

initial cut out, i did more trimming as I went along to get it to fit

it fits!!!

Had to bend this arm with a hammer where the marks are...it rotated OK after this...will leave the last metal bar from the strut until I have the windscreen on..
