Day 19

Here are my driveshafts after being modded, top one is ready for painting, bottom one is painted

This is the new Extreme top mount fitted NOTE!! I have since been told that this is wrong, the bearing should be towards the outside of the car (to the bottom of this pic), its simple enough to spin it round and remove a part of the hole for the bearing to sit in

wheel hub back on, this also shows the modified wishbone and driveshaft refitted

disk and caliper back on...yes, i am refitting my old disks at this time, I will replace all four before I finish!

new front suspension installed and wheel back on, still on jacks

wheel now on the ground!

I have now sent her off to Auto Transformations for bodying up and spraying. This is due to the fact that I didnt have enough confidence to attempt the bodywork myself and, as I have invested a lot of money in this, wanted it to look as close to perfect as possible, I wouldnt be able to do that! I hope to get pics from them as they move the build forward and I will post them here for you guys to see.

Day 16 to 18

I havent posted for a while as I have been waiting for my suspension lowering kit to arrive....these parts are now all here!

The front suspension before stripdown
The wheel hub ready to be removed

Front suspension completely removed

Driveshafts to be modded by Auto Transformations as this MUST be professionally welded after modding, wishbones ready to be modded by Extreme.

...just so I remember how the wires were attached to the bracket...

here is the complete front suspension as follows: 1 = top mounts with bearing supplied by Extreme, 2 = Dampers supplied by Dampertech, 3 = Springs supplied by Dampertech. 4 = track rod ends supplied by Extreme, 5 = Original wishbones modified by Extreme, not shown = Drive shaft extension pieces supplied by Extreme ( they are being fitted to the driveshafts at this time
here is the complete rear suspension as follows: 1 = rear Dampers supplied by Dampertech, 2 = Springs supplied by Dampertech, 3 = rear Spring adjusters supplied by Extreme

New damper ready for spring to be fitted

Springs compressed ready for top mount

top mount fitted

spring compressors removed

wishbones all painted up ready for refittingI am now just waiting on the return of the drive shafts.I do have to say that the driveshaft extension pieces supplied from Extreme were too slack to be fitted into the driveshafts and would not have been a tight enough fit. to this end, I am having new extensions made to more exact dimensions for a more perfect fit as these are CRITICAL to the handling of the car. When I get these back fitted I will post more pics of the front end suspension mods.

Day 15

The Auto-transformations lads have struck me again :-)!

I got them back this time to sort out the rear end panels and to create an original Ferrari exhaust mounting system, which they did!

Here you can see that they have moved the vertical box section that you would have been able to see through the rear grill....much better!!

Here is a closer look at the Original Ferrari exhaust mountings they have created, its the 2 pins sticking out on either side! They have also added extra strength with 2 extra box sections between the frame and the floor

So from behind....no vertical bars close to the grill!!

had to do some more work on my end caps as the kit is ALL about getting the doors right! It seems a large gap between the end cap and door skin, but I cant get it any better. I have shaved off fibre glass where the end cap wraps around the hockey stick, but it still has this gap. Also, the very top of the end cap is odd! I will need to cut this off level with the door skin lip.

This is drivers side...MUCH better fit!!

Spend nearly all day just messing with these...:-(

Day 14

tack welded the door catches into roughly the new position

installed the door locks into the door end caps, just need to countersink them when I get a drill bit!!

Rear quarter panel as you get it from extreme..

....rear quarter panel after I have cut out the holes!!

had to push the car out so I could jet wash under the wheel arches, so as it was a nice day, thought I would lay the panels on her..

Another front view

fitted the battery into the new underwing battery tray

it was a tight fit, but after a little work with the angle grider...it fit!

looking from the front, just need to cover it with a black plastic sheet to protect from the elements and so that you cant see it through the front bumper air intakes!

Day 12 and 13

Decided its now time to get the professionals in to weld up my structural areas correctly, so I called on Auto Transformations (who are not far from me...).

They came to my garage and carried out the agreed welding (and more!!) to an excellent standard, this has now moved my project on many weeks in one weekend!!
BIG thanks goes out to the Auto Transformations lads!!

Here you can see them welding up my B pillar

more b pillar welding

b piller metal plates in position now

door handle repositioned and stitch welded on

Sill cutout plated up nicely!!

Rear frame welded into place, the rear plates for the boot floor and back of car have not been done as I am having an original Ferrari exhaust installed and Auto T have come up with a great way of supporting the silencer at the rear, but they need the rear quarters on first to get it right, so that will be a job when auto T return to do more welding for me.
I am also hammerite blacking all the exposed metal to stop any rust when it gets covered with the panels.

B pillar/ door handle all Hammerited

Front part of sill cut off and shortened and rewelded in place, this area will get undersealed, as this will be painted the car colour but hammerite would react with the paint.

Windscreen lowering plate in place and nearly welded up

Windscreen hockey stick in place

another view of the sill end plate
My original ferrari exhaust!!

I am now in a position to start dry fitting panels to the car!! watch this space!!

Day 11

Did a little more work on the doors, I realised that I had welded the door handle on in slightly the wrong place, so I cut it off and welded it back on correctly with the extreme mod plate bolted on.

door end cap fitted, the mos plate now doesnt catch on the cap anymore!
